Trek DomanevsSpecialized Roubaix
A side-by-side UK buyer's guide to help you pick the right type of bike for how you actually ride.
Overview
The two endurance bikes most riders cross-shop, and both chase comfort with engineering rather than just slack angles. The Domane uses Trek's IsoSpeed decoupler to let the seat tube flex over bumps. The Roubaix uses the FutureShock unit above the head tube to take the sting out of the bars. Both clear wide tyres and are built for long days on rough roads.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Trek Domane or Specialized Roubaix more comfortable?
Both are very comfortable, just in different places. The Domane's IsoSpeed smooths bumps at the saddle, while the Roubaix's FutureShock smooths them at the bars. For many riders the deciding factor is whether they feel rough roads more in the back or the hands.
Which has more tyre clearance?
They are close, both clearing wide endurance tyres depending on the model year. Either gives you room for 32 to 35mm tyres with space to spare for British roads.
Which should I buy used?
Check the comfort system on either: IsoSpeed pivots can develop play and FutureShock units can lose damping, so ask when each was last serviced. After that, pick on feel and which build comes up at the right price.
