Creating a Cyclesite account
A Cyclesite account is free. You can browse every listing without one, but you will need an account to save favourites, message sellers, buy a bike or advertise one for sale.
Before you start
Have a working email address to hand. You will need to verify it before the account is usable.
Sign up with an email address
1. Go to Sign up on cyclesite.co.uk. 2. Enter your email address, a password and an optional username. 3. Agree to the Terms and Privacy Notice, then submit. 4. We send a six-digit code to your email. Enter it on the next screen. The code is valid for 15 minutes and you have five attempts. 5. Once verified, you are signed in. Add a display name and profile photo if you want to, both are optional.
Password requirements
Your password must be at least 8 characters long and include:
- one uppercase letter
- one lowercase letter
- one number
- one special character, for example ! ? @
We check every new password against a database of known breached passwords and will not accept one that has been leaked.
Sign up with a social account
You can also create an account using Google, Apple, Facebook or GitHub. Choose the matching "Continue with" button on the sign-up page. The verified email from that provider becomes your Cyclesite email automatically, so you will not need to verify it again.
Adding security after sign-up
Two optional extras, both free:
- Two-factor authentication using an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. Set it up at Account, Security.
- Passkey sign-in, which replaces your password with the fingerprint or face unlock on your device.
Enable either from Account, Security at any time.
If you do not receive the verification email
Check your spam folder first. If it still has not arrived after a minute, request a new code from the verification screen, we will send a fresh one. Some corporate email filters block automated messages; if you use a work address and nothing arrives, try signing up with a personal address instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Cyclesite account free?
Yes. Opening and keeping an account is free. You only pay a listing fee when you advertise a bike for sale.
How long does the verification code last?
The six-digit code is valid for 15 minutes. You have five attempts to enter it correctly before it is invalidated for security. If it expires, request a fresh code from the verification screen.
Can I sign up with Google or Apple?
Yes. Google, Apple, Facebook and GitHub are all supported on the sign-up and sign-in screens. The verified email from that provider becomes your Cyclesite email.
Do I have to use my real name?
A display name is optional and can be anything. Your real name is only needed if you list a bike for sale, so we can pay you out through Stripe.
What makes a valid password?
At least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character (for example ! ? @). We also reject passwords that have appeared in known data breaches.
