Selling on Cyclesite

Listing a bike takes about 10 minutes. You pay a transparent listing fee up front, always shown before you publish. For private classified sales, that is the only platform cost and Cyclesite takes no percentage of the sale price. When a buyer opts into Buyer Protection with secure delivery, a small platform transaction fee covers the escrow service, shown clearly on the order summary at checkout.

Before You List

  • Photos, at least six clear shots: drive side, non-drive side, front, rear, drivetrain close-up, and any damage. Shoot in daylight with a clean bike and inflated tyres.
  • Bike details, brand, model, year, size, groupset, wheels, and any upgrades or service history.
  • Price, check recent comparable sales at [/sold-bike-prices](/sold-bike-prices) or use our [valuation tool](/valuation) for an instant estimate based on live UK sold data.
  • Ownership proof, on higher-value listings we may request proof of purchase as part of verification.

Minimum listing price is £250.

Creating the Listing

1. Click Start Selling from any page on Cyclesite. 2. Upload your photos. The wizard attempts to identify your bike and pre-fill the specifications, you confirm or correct each field. 3. Choose a condition rating: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor or For Parts. Be honest, Buyer Protection disputes favour the evidence in the listing. See [condition ratings](/help/buying/condition-ratings). 4. Set your price. The valuation tool flags it if you are outside the current market range. 5. Pick your listing duration and any promotion add-ons. 6. Pay the listing fee and publish.

Listings are manually reviewed and usually go live within 24 hours. We may contact you to confirm details on higher-value bikes.

When a Buyer Shows Interest

1. Messages. Buyers can message you with questions through the platform. You are notified by email. Respond within 24 hours, slow responses hurt your placement in search results. 2. The sale takes one of two routes:

  • Private classified, in-person collection. You and the buyer agree the meet-up through the platform. The buyer pays you directly at handover (bank transfer ahead of the meet is the most common safe choice). Cyclesite is not involved in the bike payment, you keep the full sale price minus your listing fee.
  • Buyer Protection with delivery. The buyer checks out through Stripe at the asking price. Cyclesite holds the funds in escrow and books Paisley Freight within 1 to 3 working days. If you chose "you supply the box" at listing time, you pack the bike and Paisley collects. If you chose the packaged option, a bike box, bubble wrap and tape arrive first and Paisley collects once the bike is packed.

3. 48-hour inspection window (Buyer Protection only). Starts when the buyer receives the bike. They confirm it matches the listing or raise a dispute. 4. Payout (Buyer Protection only). Once the inspection window passes, Cyclesite transfers the sale proceeds (minus the platform transaction fee) to your Stripe Connect account. Funds typically land in your bank account 1 to 2 business days later, depending on Stripe's standard payout schedule.

Fees at a Glance

  • Listing fee, a one-off fee when you publish, shown before you pay. Tiered by package and duration. See [our pricing page](/pricing).
  • Private classified sale (in-person collection), no percentage of the sale price. You keep the full sale amount minus your listing fee.
  • Buyer Protection sale (with delivery), a small platform transaction fee is deducted from your payout, shown on the order summary at checkout.

See [listing fees](/help/selling/listing-fees) for how the packages compare.

If a Buyer Disputes the Sale

If a buyer opens a dispute within the 48-hour inspection window, we investigate. You will be asked to respond with any evidence, original listing photos, serial numbers, correspondence, collection condition. If the dispute is upheld in the buyer's favour, we arrange the return at our cost. If the evidence supports you, the sale completes and you are paid as normal. Most disputes are resolved within one working day.

Seller Obligations

Once a buyer has paid, you are expected to complete the sale. Cancellations are only accepted in exceptional circumstances, if you cancel without a valid reason, the buyer is refunded in full and your listing may be removed. If you genuinely cannot fulfil an order, [contact support](/help/contact) as soon as possible.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to list a bike on Cyclesite?

Listing fees are tiered, shown in full on our [pricing page](/pricing) and again before you publish. No percentage is taken from private classified sales where the buyer collects in person. See [listing fees](/help/selling/listing-fees).

What is the minimum I can list a bike at?

The minimum listing price on Cyclesite is £250. Bikes below this threshold are better matched through local classified platforms.

How long does it take to create a listing?

About 10 minutes if you have photos ready. The listing wizard auto-identifies your bike from the photos and fills in the specifications, you confirm the details and set your price.

How long until I get paid after my bike sells?

Roughly 3 to 4 days after the buyer receives the bike. The 48-hour inspection window passes, then Stripe takes 1 to 2 business days to transfer funds to your bank. See [seller payouts](/help/selling/seller-payouts) for the full timeline.

Does Cyclesite take a commission on the sale price?

Not on private classified sales where the buyer collects in person, you keep the full sale price minus your listing fee. When the buyer opts into Buyer Protection with secure delivery, a small platform transaction fee applies, shown on the order summary before you or the buyer commits.
