The Fuel EX is Trek's full suspension trail bike, and the Fuel EX 8 is one of the aluminium builds in the range. It sits above the EX 5 and EX 7, which pair an aluminium frame with cheaper parts. The carbon framed bikes carry 9 series names such as 9.7, 9.8 and 9.9.
It uses Trek's ABP (Active Braking Pivot) rear suspension, where the rear pivot sits around the rear axle. The idea is to keep the suspension working while you brake.
