Cycling tech

Cycling tech changes constantly but the buying decisions do not. Match the standard to your use-case, ignore marketing tiers, and prefer the parts your local shop can service.

Most cycling tech upgrades are oversold. The guides on this page focus on the upgrades that actually change the ride: tubeless tyres, decent lights, well-set-up clipless pedals. Where compatibility matters (cassette ratios, brake-pad standards, bottom-bracket types) we set out the choices in plain English so you can buy confidently.

Frequently asked

Are tubeless tyres worth it?

On gravel and MTB, yes. Fewer punctures and lower running pressures mean a faster, more comfortable ride. On road bikes the case is closer; tubeless still wins on puncture protection but setup is fussier and tyre choice is more limited.
