Thank you for reporting this, you've found a frustrating bug! The details you included made it very quick to pin down the issue.

Messaging is working again now, and we've fixed the underlying fault so that system shouldn't silently take messaging down again. We've also added alerts so posts in this feedback community reach us within minutes rather than days. Sorry it took us this long to see yours.
