Where does this data come from?

Every data point in this report comes from a completed sale on Cyclesite. We use real transaction prices, not asking prices or estimates. This is exclusive data that only Cyclesite has access to.

How many sales are included?

This report aggregates all completed bike sales on Cyclesite during the quarter. Each category and brand statistic requires a minimum sample size of 10 transactions before being included. Low-confidence data points are excluded.

Why median prices rather than averages?

Accepted Answer

Median prices are more representative of the typical transaction. A single unusually expensive or cheap bike can skew an average, but the median represents what most buyers actually pay.

Question 4

How is depreciation calculated?

We compare sold prices against original MSRP data for each bike. Year 1, 3, and 5 depreciation figures are based on bikes of those ages sold during the period, with a minimum sample size of 15 per data point.
