Stolen Giant Bikes: UK Frame-Number Check (Free, Instant)
Last updated
Quick answer
Giant frame numbers are eight characters, stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket or the non-drive-side chainstay. Giant and Liv (their women's brand) share the same numbering scheme. Use Cyclesite's free lookup for an instant UK check.
Where Giant stamps the frame number
Underside of the bottom bracket on the vast majority of Giant and Liv models since 2012. Some Defy and TCR models use the non-drive-side chainstay. E-MTBs (Trance E+, Reign E+) occasionally use the battery mount bracket, so confirm the frame itself also has the number.
Giant on UK resale sites
Giant is the UK's best-selling brand, so it's disproportionately represented in both legitimate used sales and stolen listings. Defy Advanced and Trance X are the two most frequently flagged models. Liv-branded bikes (Avail, Langma, Intrigue) see lower theft rates but strong demand in the used market.
FAQs
- Is a Liv frame number format the same as Giant?
- Yes. Liv bikes are produced by Giant and share the numbering scheme.
- How long is a Giant frame number?
- Eight alphanumeric characters.
- What if a Giant bike has no visible number?
- Walk away. Giant stamps consistently, so a missing number almost always means it has been deliberately removed.
